Scrap Hearts

Gifts - packaging, Holiday crafts, tutorial, valentine's day  |  February 13th 2011  |  0 Comment

As promised, here is my idea how to put scraps and yarn ends into a good use.
You will need a plastic pocket from office supplies, sewing machine and whatever yarn ends you have. I made a heart shape pattern on a piece of paper, so that all my hearts are the same, placed it into the plastic pocket (we call them ‘pockets’, but probably there is a more scientific name for that thing) and made a drawing on the pocket. Then I sewed both parts together leaving a hole about 2cm wide, so that I can stuff the heart with scraps and then sewed up the hole. And that’s it. My tip is to cut scraps in smaller pieces, the smaller the pieces are the better the result is.

Later you can make a garland or whatever with them. The advantage is that you can place them in more humid places too, such as bathrooms, balcony’s or garden sheds.
Besides you can make any shapes you like, it doesn’t necessarily has to be a heart, Easter is coming, so you can go wild with colourful Easter Bunnies, flowers, stars, you name it…
I made a hunting cat.

I hope you will enjoy the idea!

And if you make something, please let me know, so that I can feast my eyes upon your ideas too!
