Gift presents for kids: Cute pear plush sewing tutorial

Felt, Sewing, tutorial  |  October 3rd 2011  |  0 Comment

Here’s what I did:

And I thought, I should share how to make this cutieeeeeee!

Ok, Let’s go:

You will need

bright green fabric (I prefer fleece!!!!), brown, dark green and pink felt, some plastic eyes (the ones you can sew on), thread, fibre fill and the pattern for the pears body. (pear tutorial – download here)

Download the pattern and cut out 3 pieces of fleece (or fabric) according to it.

Now, take black thread and stitch on a mouth to one piece.

Like this. :)

Now, cut out circles (as cheeks) from pink felt and sew on. Also attach the eyes.

Put the “face” aside and cut out 3 strips of brown felt and a triangle. (Yes, TRIANGLE, not a square like you see in the picture ^^) I can not offer you am exact size of the strips, depends on how big your stem of the pear is supposed to be. My strips were 9 cm high and 2,5 cm wide. And the triangle piece is about 2,5 cm long at each side.

Sew the strips to the triangle.

Now, please sew the long sides of the strips together.

You will now have a tube with one open end.

Turn it inside out and stuff with fibre fill.

Put aside. You will ned this later.

Now, take two body pieces of your pear and sew the long sides together. This means, lay them onto each other, the “inner” sides up (face-to-face) and with the help of your sewing machine, sew the “most” part together. DON’T sew up to the top or the bottom. Like this:

Can you see that the top part and the bottom part are still open?! :D

Now, take piece number 3 and also sew together. It means, sew to the second body piece and then to the first. You will have a “tube”…. :)

Cut out a triangle (as you see, it doesn’t have to be “perfect) that will be the bottom of the pear. It should at least be 20 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm!

Sew each side to each side of the pears bottom.

Turn the whole pear inside-out and stuff it tightly. The bottom will look like this.

And the whole pear will look like this. xD

Since every pear needs leaves and a stem, just take the stem you already made and one or 2 leaves from felt and attach them to the pears top!

I am not really great at “hidden” sewing. So I just attached the stem by pulling it a bit into the open top and “folding” the fabric, then adding the leaves and sewing it all together.

See?! xD Not really very professional, but it works for me :P

And well… now you have a cuddly cute soft pear to take in bed with you!

Or to use as a cute background gimmick when you try to get a good shot of the cat xD

Hope, you enjoy sewing this pear!
