So cute gift for a little girl: Mimie’s Big Bow Sandals

Booties, Crochet, tutorial  |  October 21st 2011  |  0 Comment

Mimie’s Big Bow Sandals

Despite being called Mimie’s Big Bow Sandals these sandals are too small for my little girl so they are going to a charity me and a few friends of mine are currently donating to. I will be making a bigger pair for Mimie as I think they are the cutest thing ever!!

You will need: DK yarn, I used barely a quarter of a ball, 4mm crochet hook, 3mm crochet hook, yarn needle and ribbon to match.

Gauge: Sole on finished sandal is 3.75″ long (approx up to 3months). You can easily make them bigger just by adding extra rounds on the sole.

Sole: 4mm hook
1. ch12, 2hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in next 2sts, dc in next 6sts, 6dcs in next st, (on opposite side of foundation ch) dc in next 6sts, hdc in next 3sts, join with sl st in 1st hdc (25sts)
2. ch1, 2scs in same st, sc in next 11sts, (2scs in next st) twice, sc in next 11sts, 2scs in next st, join in 1st sc (30sts)
3. ch1, sc in same st, 2sc in next st, sc in next 12sts, (2sc in next st) 4 times, sc in next 12sts, 2sc in next st, join in 1st sc (37sts)
4. ch1, sc in same st and next st, 2sc in next st, sc in next 13sts, (2sc in next st) 4 times, sc in next 13sts, 2sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, join in 1st sc, cast off (42sts)

Front strap: 4mm hook
5. with right side facing and cast off tail at top, join yarn in 15th st from tail (counting clockwise), ch1, sc in same st and next 2sts (3sts)
6-13. ch1, turn, sc in back loops across  (3sts)
14. cast off, then with right side facing and tail at top, count 13sts anti clockwise from tail and join strap

Back strap: 4mm hook
15. with right side facing and cast off tail at top, join yarn in 2nd st clockwise from tail, ch1, sc in same st and next 3sts (4sts)
16-25. ch1, turn, sc in back loops across (4sts)
26. cast off, fold in half and stitch down using tailBow: 3mm hook
27. ch10, sc in 2nd ch from hook (9sts)
28-37. ch1, turn, sc in back loops across, cast off (9sts)
38. ch6, sc in 2nd ch from hook (5sts)
39-43. ch1, turn, sc  in back loops across, cast off (5sts)
44. Gather the centre of the bow and tightly stitch the small rectangle youve just made around the gather.
45. Stitch the finished bow onto the front strap.

Cut some ribbon to go around your baby’s ankle with enough spare to tie a bow. Seal the edges with a lighter. Thread the ribbon through the loop on the back of the sandal and do a couple of stitches to stop it being pulled out. Or leave it if you would like to change the colour of ribbon to match different outfits! Tie it around your baby’s ankle.

You’re done!!
